Before You Pay Taxes
Please verify your property description before remitting payment. The Tax Collector's Office is not responsible for payments made on the wrong property.
Payment of Taxes
You may pay the total tax as shown on the face of the bill without penalty on or before December 10 or pay in two equal installments. FIRST INSTALLMENT of tax is due and payable on November 1, DELINQUENT AFTER DECEMBER 10. As provided by law, 10% penalty is added to unpaid accounts thereafter. SECOND INSTALLMENT OF TAX is due February 1, DELINQUENT AFTER APRIL 10. As provided by law, 10% penalty is added to unpaid accounts thereafter, plus cost of $23 per bill. The second installment may be paid separately if first installment has been paid. If taxes and penalties are not paid by July 1, additional penalties will accrue.
Tax Due Dates
If December 10 or April 10 falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the last day for paying without penalties is on the next business day, and DELINQUENT AFTER THAT DAY.
Pay by eCheck
You may pay your tax bill online by eCheck at “no cost” through a checking or savings account on the Tax Collector’s authorized website. Payments processed through our website on or before 11:59 p.m. of the last payment date as evidenced by a confirmation number will be considered timely. If a confirmation number is not received, the payment was not processed.
Effective January 1, 1995, all taxpayers whose tax payments equal or exceed $25,000 per installment, are required to pay electronically. If your payment is less than $25,000, we request that you make direct electronic payments of your taxes using eCheck. When you use eCheck, you authorize the county to take the funds for your tax payment directly from your bank account on the day you initiate the transaction.

Pay by Online Banking
You may also pay your property taxes using home banking. To ensure timely and proper credit and avoid penalties, payments must be made payable to the County of Orange, must include the APN number in the account number field in the following format 123-456-78 and must be received and processed by the Tax Collector on or before the last payment date. We recommend processing these 5 or 7 days before the last payment date. Payments which do not include the APN properly in the account field may be rejected.
Pay by Mail
IMPORTANT: Mail your payment(s) at least 3 days prior to delinquent date.
Pursuant to Revenue & Taxation Code Sec. 2512, to avoid penalties, payments must be postmarked on or before delinquent date as State Law requires it to be treated as if it had been received on the date shown by the post office cancellation mark stamped on the envelope. Only U.S. Federal Government postmarks will be accepted. Office machine cancellation marks will not be accepted. When remitting payment, checks must be paid in U.S. Currency and drawn on a U.S. Bank. All funds must be remitted. Our office will not pay for collection fees, conversion fees or any miscellaneous charges incurred for processing payment. If the Bank imposes a fee, the tax payment will be cancelled and delinquent fees and penalties will apply. Payments may be mailed to:
